Giving To Others

“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”
-Winston Churchill

Here at Ark we would like to take some time to stress the urgency for giving to a charity of your choice. Due to cutbacks in governmental spending and now the weather, charities are feeling these changes to the point of turning people away. Right now there is a shortage of food and did you know that if you were to donate enough money to buy one .79 cent can of tuna fish, that most food banks could convert that .79 cents into 7 cans of tuna! Though food donations are very helpful, financial assistance can go much further because of the discounts provided for such charities as North Texas Food Bank. Below we have provided a small list of charitable organizations to give to that we support so click on those or find others for your giving on the internet. Make sure they have the correct non-profit paperwork (http://www.irs.gov/publications/p557/index.html)

WASHINGTON — As the congressional fight continues over cuts to food stamps, recipients are already feeling a pinch, and food banks are concerned about filling the gap.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, helps feed more than 700,000 people in Dallas and Tarrant counties and nearly 4 million statewide….

Ark Believes in the spirit of giving and helping those let fortunate. Our giving to charities page is created for anyone to give directly to a charity of their choice. We are building this page as a portal to many of the organizations we believe in and that help those who are in need. We feel responsible to the community as a business to give back and this is the beginning of our journey. Please feel free to write and provide suggestion to those organization worth giving back to and we will consider putting their organization on our website.  Please give to these organizations and click on their websites to find out more information on how to give to a charitable organization of choice below.

Amadi Guess We Serve

Call (972) 733-0176 To Give

The Amadi Guess Foundation (AGF) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide children from underserved communities access to nutritious meals. We weave together a net of community groups, activists and food programs to children facing hunger and surround them with nutritious food where they live, learn and play. Almost one in four children in America face hunger. These children will endure lifelong consequences as a result of having limited access to nutritious foods. In fact, they’re more likely to suffer poorer health, fatigue, hospitalizations, behavioral difficulties and impaired performance at school.

give to city house

www.cityhouse.org

City House was founded by two Plano ISD school teachers, sadly inspired and driven by one teenager sleeping in his pickup truck, another living in a vacant building, and another bringing her clothes to school in a garbage bag. In 1988, City House opened its doors to its first residents. What began as a six-bed shelter has grown into a four home, 36 beds, multi-faceted agency that provides residential and non-residential services to more than 500 children, young adults and their families each year. Throughout 2013 we will be celebrating our 25 years of service with various events and activities including City House’s Silver Anniversary Gala (Sept. 7th) and theEbby Halliday Frisco Golf Tournament, just to name two. We also are paving the walking path in our Serenity Garden. – See more at: http://www.cityhouse.org/#sthash.uYtpdwmF.dpuf

Stones of love foundation

www.stonesoflove.com/donate

Stones of Love is a 501c3 non profit organization that reaches out to parents who can not afford a headstone or marker when their child passes away. In 2012, Sherri experienced what no parent ever dreams will happen to them – the sudden loss of her child. After surviving the financial crisis of an unexpected funeral, she realized that like herself, headstones were out of the question for many single parents.

Stones of Love helps primarily single parents in financial crisis who need headstones for their children. She realized, that when every penny counted, the headstone is the one step that went by the wayside until funds became available. Sherri’s son passed away in June of 2012 and she is just now, a year later, able to afford and begin the process of purchasing a headstone to memorialize his precious life.
